The JWRP/Etz Chaim Israel Trip was intensely inspirational. After participating in our Jewish Woman’s Renaissance Project (JWRP) trip, a group of woman were inspired to organize a learning group in their community. Calling themselves J-WoHoCo (Jewish Women of Howard County), dozens of women get together each month for socializing, networking, and Jewish inspiration. In preparation for Pesach the women had an exotic charoses taste-testing contest followed by an inspirational address by Rabbi Porter. More recently on Yom Yerushalayim they got together for an evening of Israeli dance. In addition to the social events, the J-WoHoCo organized a regular class on the lives of Biblical heroines taught by Mrs. Elana Pomeranz. Participants are excited to apply the lessons learned to their own lives and are eagerly sharing their experience with others. Featured in a J-More feature article, the J-WoHoCo are a model example of what women can do with a little inspiration. Who said Moms can’t have fun?
Following on the success of J-WoHoCo in Howard County, a group of JWRP alumni in Baltimore came together to join a program of their own, called JEWNITY. Their kick off event featured three talks by Nili Couzins, the beloved and acclaimed JWRP Trip Leader, who spoke to nearly 100 women at the two evening talks hosted by Jerry and Sora Wolasky.
Most recently, J-WoHoCo & JEWNITY hosted Pre-Rosh Hashana cooking demonstrations with Renee Chernin in both Howard County and Baltimore. The women at both events enjoyed preparing for the Jewish new year with the perfect mix of practical cooking tips and spiritual inspiration.
